Diastasis Day

Do your core muscles feel strong? Ever have back or hip pain? Got some issues "down there" after childbirth? Join us to assess your core health and move forward towards your goals!

Diastasis Recti is a separation of abdominal muscles that can cause pain, instability in the pelvis, and weakness in core muscles. While men, women and children can experience a diastasis, it is common after pregnancy and CAN be healed!

Many postpartum women want their postpartum body to look "like it used to" and lose a new addition around the middle. But regular exercise that doesn't address a diastasis will never achieve the desired results, and can actually worsen body weakness or pain. A diastasis can be healed at any age with awareness.

In this workshop post-partum women learn to assess themselves for diastasis recti, and learn toning exercises to heal it. You'll learn how to use core muscles in all daily movements to maintain your progress. Handouts of "Do's and Don'ts" and a progress chart will enhance the way you look and feel about your body. This class will briefly address pelvic problems such as incontinence and weakness that are further explored in Beth's "Healthy, Happy Pelvis" workshops.

Follow up support for this program is offered in Beth's Women's Yoga and Mommy & Me Yoga classes, and you'll receive a coupon for a 10-minute a day DVD workout program called The Dia Method.

Women's Pelvic Yoga: Releasing Tension, Increasing Strength

Every pelvis has a story, and at least one dream! Bring your wishes to this workshop to learn how yoga can create peace in your pelvis, hips and core muscles.

We'll use yoga and breath work to identify our habits, re-align our core, and improve our posture. This is the start to easing tension and building strength in our pelvis. We'll experience how yoga can aid: incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapsed organs and childbearing (conception, pregnancy and postpartum recovery).

NO yoga experience is required! This workshop will be a beginner level yoga class mixed with dialogue, breath work, movement, and guided relaxation. Those who have practiced yoga will be interested to learn about the relationships between our pelvic floor and asana, mula bandha, and pranayama.

Wear comfortable clothes for movement and bring an extra layer to wear in relaxation. Mats and props provided.
